One Week minus a day to go

Ok Folks..less than a week to go..
Due to severe felling in parts of Ballinastoe we have been unable to use our imaginations as much as I'd liked but we'll still produce a cracking event.

Its following basically the same route as last year, we will be throwing in a few deviations and a couple of new features..remember its all about the craic and the friendly competition
Bear in mind that this is The EPIC Blast and pre riding the Course is considered bad manners, plus its on a lot of the Collite built trails and we don't want to alter or interfere with them.

If you have never entered and have no Racing Licence, you can get a one day licence on the day, its €20 and they will be available on the day at sign on.

Heres how it works , you sign on, its open at 8.30 and you just go in to a heat in whatever lock of people you signed on with.

SIGN ON CLOSES EXACTLY AT 11.OOPM NO EXCEPTIONS.
YOU WILL NEED TO BE AT THE START LINE AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN BY 12.00.

THE OVERALL SIGN ON IS DIVIDED EQUALLY IN TO HEATS

HEAT 1 GOES AT 12.00 , HEAT 2 @12.01 AND SO ON

IF YOU MISS YOUR HEAT YOU CAN GO AT THE END WITH THE OTHER EEJITS THAT MISS THEIR HEAT.

WHEN YOU CROSS THE LINE YOUR FINISH PLACE IS STICKERED ON YOUR NUMBER PLATE.

YOU GO STRAIGHT BACK UP FOR YOUR FINAL THATS ALL THE 1'S ,THE 2'S ETC

AT 3 O CLOCK EVERYBODY GOES UP FOR THE BLAST FINAL !

and thats basically it..

theres no categories, no age groups except the kids who go at 11.00 in the mini blast
there is an uplift as far as we can go but this is not a DH race and i is not an XC race
there will be Chicken Runs around everything.
None of the jumps are extreme to the max though but they might be difficult on the wrong machine.

A dh bike will be a serious handicap though..when i came up with Event it was to run a race for all mountain bikes, 6" Front and rear or a near enough equivelant.
it can be done on other bikes but only real superstars can make that work..

Things can also get very heated in the competition and people can get worked up, we encourage good natured Competition and messing as long as its done with a measure of cop on.

And thats it, bring home your rubbish, don't cheat or jump the start, thats really pathetic, you're up there  for the craic, be safe, wear armour and keep the stupidity to an acceptable level..

there will be food vendors, prizes from Saddleskedaddle,Dirtbird and CRC and custom medals !
if you want to contribute drop me a line,

Richie
